Questions About Our Company
Art Sentry is used by more than 25% of the top art museums in the United States, as well as museums that curate other artifacts. Explore Case Studies to see some relevant examples. Given the sensitive nature of our work, other references are available upon request.
Since 2005 we have been focused on the museum market, and we cherish the opportunity to help protect the World’s greatest treasures and artifacts.
Our system uses cameras and software to create protective zones around your valuable pieces. If a visitor breaches one of these zones, the system triggers an audible alert to prompt the guest to correct their behavior. Simultaneously, an alert is sent to your security guards and/or command center, accompanied by a replay of the incident, allowing you to assess the situation and decide if further action is needed.
No! In addition to art ranging in age from prehistoric to modern, we also protect objects such as fossils, gems, pop culture artifacts, and more.

Questions About Our Capabilities
Art Sentry can serve as a complete VMS system with museum-focused object-protection technology, or operate solely as an object-protection solution. It does not (currently) integrate with other VMS systems. Many customers use our system in tandem with their current VMS system, and in most cases, both systems can share the same cameras. If you are seeking integration with your current VMS, please reach out to us, as this feature is on our development roadmap.
We utilize a network audio device to trigger alertss through a speaker. The alerts are fully customizable, as you can choose from our pre-recorded list or record your own. Alerts can also be silenced while still being displayed to guards and in the control room, with all activity tracked in the system for reporting.
Yes, you can. However, motion detection on exterior cameras can be limited by several factors, such as movement from vehicles, animals, and plants moving in the wind, which can all trigger false alarms. To address this, we have integrated LiDAR devices into our system, which may offer a more reliable alternative in outdoor environments by reducing false triggers. Additionally, we can leverage built-in solutions within Axis cameras to enhance performance for exterior use cases.
Most support and maintenance can be conducted via remote connection, including running diagnostics on hardware and performing software updates. If an issue arises that requires hardware repair/replacement, Art Sentry will coordinate with the appropriate manufacturer (e.g. Dell for servers and Axis for cameras).
The Art Sentry VMS can integrate with Axis access control devices like video doorbells. Some customers use a basic integration with access control through I/O ports. Fully integrating with access control providers is on our development roadmap, so please contact us if you are interested in this capability.
We offer several installation options. One approach is to have our team handle the entire installation process. Alternatively, we can collaborate with your museum’s in-house staff or a local installer familiar with your site. If we are not performing the installation, we’ll provide detailed instructions and offer onsite or remote support to assist with any questions or issues that may arise during the process.
Our solution stands apart because it is specifically designed for the unique needs of museums. Unlike many other systems that produce high alarm rates and aren’t tailored to a museum setting, our technology is fine-tuned to reduce false alarms and ensure accurate detection in these environments. With over 20 years of experience working with museums, we now protect 25% of the top art institutions in the country, demonstrating our deep expertise and reliability in this specialized field.
Questions About Our Technology
The cameras and speakers are all hardwired as wireless cameras have not proven to be reliable for our application.
The industry standard is 30 days, but you can configure the system’s settings to meet your organization’s needs. Storing video files longer will take up more storage space in the system.
We support many major brands and integrate with most ONVIF cameras. However, your existing cameras may not be optimally positioned for our system. To explore camera integration options, we need to know the brands and models of your cameras. If cameras need to be added, we can deploy camera devices that help maximize views while minimizing wiring or cabling expense.
It’s as easy as drawing a box around an object. Protection zones are also easily altered and changed.
